Financial insecurity is worsening for the nation’s professional dancers, musicians, actors, writers and visual artists, with half earning as little as $200 a week from their practice and an increasing number reliant on casual jobs.

Anya quickly gained notoriety in the Australian art world and opened her first flagship store in Sydney in 2014 and a gallery in Fremantle in 2013.

She told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons starting young, when you’re a bit more “ignorant of the real world” helps, but in reality those in the creative industry have to be just that – creative – to figure out how to earn a living from their work.
