There has been plenty of pushback following the announcement that Labor has reopened the gun buyback scheme.

6PR Breakfast Show hosts Karl and Millsy spoke to Paul Fitzgerald, WA Firearms Alliance spokesperson, who is angry that Labor is focusing its attention on guns.

‘What is the minister trying to distract the WA public from — the real issues? Road toll, knife crime, deaths in custody, all under his portfolio — yet the second-largest logistical operation in Western Australian police history, which was the first buyback, tied up countless numbers of police officers,’ he said.”

6PR’s Gary Adshead discussed the issue with Police Minister Paul Papalia.

“Unlicensed firearms start their life as licensed firearms, so the more licensed firearms you have out there, the more likely they are to become available to people who will do harm with them,” he said
