First person dies under WA’s euthanasia laws
WA’s new Voluntary Assisted Dying laws have been used for the first time this week, with a person choosing to legally end their own life.
The landmark legislation was passed in late 2019 enabling eligible people to request access to assisted dying through a medical practitioner. The laws came into effect earlier this month.
Premier Mark McGowan shared the news on his Facebook page saying it was a “historic moment” for the state.
