Flight Centre prepared to challenge border closures
Flight Centre has revealed it’s prepared to go to court with states who don’t provide a reasonable roadmap to opening up as the country’s vaccination rate increases.
It comes as the National Cabinet meets today to discuss the way out of the pandemic.
CEO Flight Centre Graham Turner singled out Western Australia and Queensland as state’s who need to provide that “reasonable” plan.
“If they do keep their borders shut without a plan to reopen, well we do have Constitution in Australia and it’s there for a reason,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
“We know that WA for example has to open its border at some stage, we know COVID’s going to be around for many years.
“So at some stage they do have to open the border, and they do have to accept there’s going to be COVID infections in the state.
“If we can expedite that, so be it, that will be our aim.”
