A new proposal by the City of Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge aims to transform the city into a ‘bustling, European-style city’ by increasing the population density of the town centre from 1,500 to 10,000.

Local resident and writer of ‘Freo’s View’ Roel Loopers has been a resident of Fremantle for 30 years and says the proposed goal is way too high.

Mr Loopers joined Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR’s Afternoons.

“I believe that an almost 10,000 people increase in the very small CBD that Fremantle has… it couldn’t accommodate that,” Mr Loopers said.
