Fremantle steal a thriller from the Pies

Article image for Fremantle steal a thriller from the Pies

The Fremantle Dockers have shrugged off a scoreless first quarter to steal a 12-point win over Collingwood on Sunday night.

It was only the third time Freo had recorded a scoreless first quarter the two other times in 2004 and 2013 against Richmond and St Kilda respectively, but it was the second time they’ve gone on to steal the win, 10.1 (61) to 7.7 (49).

Collingwood bounced back in the third quarter to take a four-point lead going into the final term, but a Mitch Crowden goal got Freo off to the start they needed to finish the game.
The Pies weren’t done with Steele Sidebottom snapping a goal to get within six points of the Dockers.

David Mundy got a free kick with only seconds left and the veteran kicked the goal after the final siren for Fremantle’s third win for the season.
