Friends for life: Two men bonded by a heroic childhood rescue
In the summer of 1956/57 Ross Wall was enjoying a swim when he hit his head knocking him unresponsive.
He later learned that 10 year old Graham Caporn who was playing in the water nearby with friends, grabbed Ross after noticing him floating unconscious face down taking him to shore where his parents called an ambulance saving his life.
Now the two friends have reunited after Graham received a Royal Life Saving WA Bravery Award for his heroic actions 67 years ago.
“It was a proud moment” Caporn told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live.
“It is wonderful that Graham’s saving of me was acknowledged even all these years later” Mr Wall said.
