From Bones to Biotech: Brian Leedman’s trek through the world of medical technology
What started as a childhood fandom for Star Trek‘s famed Doctor Leonard H. “Bones” McCoy, Brian Leedman has become a pioneer in the world of biotechnology investment.
Having just sold one biotechnology firm to Pfizer for $200 million, he is now fronting OncoSil Medical: a group which, fittingly, has a strong connection to his childhood idol.
“If you remember the old Star Trek series with Dr. bones, McCoy, he had the Tricorder to analyze somebody and say, ‘this is what’s wrong with you or you’re going alien growing inside you’,” Mr Leedman said.
“The University of Queensland had this patented technology that reminded me a lot of that, and that’s what we’re doing now.”
