GAME DAY: Eagles still have a point to prove

Article image for GAME DAY: Eagles still have a point to prove

The West Coast Eagles continue to struggle away from home after losing to the Western Bulldogs by 8-points at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, despite a lead at quarter time and only a three-point deficit late in the fourth quarter.

Josh Kennedy barely got boot to ball, with his first goal coming late in the game while Tom Liberatore kept his Bulldogs in front with his three majors for the final 12.11 (83) to 11.9 (75) scoreline.

The Eagles stayed in the game with Mark LeCras, Jack Darling, Elliot Yeo and Josh Hill all kicked two goals each. West Coast were down by 13 points going into the final quarter and looked like they were in it to win with three unanswered goals, but the Dogs answered back at the right time.

Listen to how it played out…

‘We came close today and we keep saying that we’ve played some pretty quality teams away from home. We do hear what everyone says about us not being able to win away from home and we’re just going to keep striving to prove the critics wrong:’ Scott Lycett spoke with us after the game.

Nic Naitanui may have broken his nose, but the Eagles coach isn’t too concerned and says it shouldn’t keep him away from the game. Listen to Adam Simpson’s full post game press conference here…
