Gary Adshead has called on the State Commissioner for Children and Young People to “step up” and focus the government’s attention on Banksia Hill.

The State Commissioner for Children and Young People has created a lot of noise around McGowan’s commentary on Banksia Hill Detention Centre detainees.

Jacqueline McGowan-Jones has described the Premier’s language as criminalising and demonising children who may not even be found guilty of a crime.

“Commissioner, you have the power to get to the truth in all of this. Why won’t you hold an inquiry?” Gary said on 6PR Mornings.
