George Pell appeal granted
The High Court has granted George Pell special leave to appeal his conviction.
Macquarie news reporter Harry Spicer was in Canberra for the decision and spoke with 6PR Breakfast as he exited the court.
A law expert from Melbourne University explained to Steve and Baz it was almost a “personal decision” from the High Court judges if they wanted to get involved with the case to let it continue.
“If they uphold his appeal on either of the two grounds he’s raised; he is no longer convicted, he is acquitted, he can’t be re-tried on those charges and he gets out of jail.”
