Get the King off our coins, Katter clamors
Travel bans, crocodiles and now our national currency: it seems like there isn’t many causes Bob Katter won’t get behind.
In a relatively spectacular showing in Canberra on Monday, Mr Katter demanded the removal of King Charles from Australian coins, and put forward a number of alternatives including Kokoda survivor Ralph Honner and Indigenous warrior Tubba Tre.
Mr Katter told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast he had made a point of not supporting a foreign monarch as leader of Australia throughout his entire political career.
“How do you explain, that when Australia is two weeks away from invasion, they decide to give all of Australia away to the Japanese while our soldiers are in the Libyan Desert?” Mr Katter said, assumedly talking about World War 2.
