New changes to immigration laws aimed at alleviating staff shortages in the aged care industry has come under criticism, as experts believe it’s open to rorting.

The proposed solution will see short courses offered through training providers in attempt to reduce the staff shortage plaguing the aged care industry.

Immigration Expert Abul Rizvi told Jamie Burnett the warning lights should be on for the Government, as he expects the courses to be flooded by applicants chasing permanent residency.

“It’s essential providers that are involved in this are actually high quality providers who are actually good at training people in this space”…“we don’t want a rush of providers who actually have no background and are just after the money”.
