The investigation into alleged historical racism and Hawthorn Football Club has come to an end, with no declarations of responsibility made against former coach Alistair Clarkson, current Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan or former Hawthorn staffer Jason Burt.

The AFL has also reached an agreement with the complainants in the investigation, stating the leaking of information to the media “was not in any party’s interests”.

The Age football journalist Rohan Connolly told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings it’s unfortunately become a story centered on divided sympathies.

“I’ve got a lot of sympathy for the Hawthorn Football Club because I think they became aware of a really disturbing situation and in good faith attempted to find out what was going on,” Mr Connolly said.
