Hospital operating theatres need more space as hip surgeries increase
There have been calls for hospital operating theatres to create more space as people with hip fractures are waiting longer than the optimal time for surgery.
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care have updated national clinical care standard for hip fractures and reduced the maximum time to surgery.

The Commision’s Acting Chief Medical Officer Associate Professor Carolyn Hullick told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast these new standards will improve care for patients.
“Getting back on your feet quicker means you get out of hospital quicker, but back to where you were quicker as well,” Ms Hullick said.
