Older Australian are being encouraged to jump back into the workforce as the state grapples with a massive worker shortage.

CEO Australian Hotels Association Stephen Ferguson said there’s plenty of opportunity out there.

“We did a survey recently where we found we’re at about 60 per cent of our normal head count for necessary employees,” he said on 6PR Mornings.

“So the work’s certainly out there.”

CEO of the WA branch of the Australian Hotels Association Bradley Woods said tourism areas in the south-west were in the greatest need of workers

“What we’re seeing doing there, particularly the regions around Margaret River and the peak tourism areas; Busselton, Bunbury, the whole coastline down there are particularly high in demand.

“Then if you go up the coral coast it’s just as busy.”
