Businesses will need to adopt new processes, policies and procedures when new proof of vaccination requirements in WA kick in on January 31.

Lynn & Brown Lawyers principal Steven Brown told Mark Gibson on 6PR Breakfast the onus was on venue owners to ensure patrons were double vaccinated or risk 12 months imprisonment or a $50,000 fine.

‘They’re making rules on the fly … but is it legal, yes it is,” he said.

The full list of venues now requiring double dose proof of vaccination under emergency power laws introduced by the state government on Thursday are:

• visitors to public and private hospitals, and aged care facilities
• all hospitality venues including restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, clubs, taverns, night
  clubs and dine-in fast food (roadhouses, service stations and takeaway are exempt)
• indoor entertainment venues, including play centres, gaming and gambling, theatres,
  concert halls, museums, cinemas and live music venues
• bottle shops
• the entire Crown Perth complex
• major stadiums
• gyms, fitness centres and health studios
• amusement parks and the Zoo
• music festivals and large events with more than 500 people, unless exempt
