Carnarvon business owners have been left furious after Premier Mark McGowan said the accord signed by local hotel and bottle shop owners designed to help prevent alcohol abuse in Carnarvon was ‘pathetic.’

Owner of Carnarvon Hotel Helen Newby told Gary Adshead they have been pushing for more liquor restrictions in Carnarvon for years.

“We have been putting things in place for a long time so for him to say we have only had this accord registered now, we have pushed and pushed to have this put in place,” Ms Newby said onĀ 6PR Mornings.

“Businesses are here, we pay wages, we pay everything – yes we are here to make money but I am sorry…greed? We all survive – we are the average Joe’s doing our best.”
