The Iditarod is the most famed dog sled race in the world, making it’s way through Alaska every year with thousands of spectators.

But how exactly do you train for the race when you live in a country with almost no snow?

Australian Sled Dogs Sports Association President Vanessa Joy told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast many might not know it, but there is a keen sledding community in Australia.

“It’s actually been around in Australia since the late ’80s… but it’s sort of a niche sport, and a lot of people seem shocked when they first hear that it’s run in our country,” Ms Joy said.
