Perth councils have backed the State government’s proposal for the first centralised registration system for cats and dogs.

The new system aims to stop puppy farming and illegal breeding.

City of Melville Mayor George Gear told Jo McManus on 6PR Afternoons the new system would give pet owners peace of mind.

“It will mean a lot for pet owners,” said Mr Gear.
