How to… motivate for good with Nick Hudson
About 7 years ago, Nick Hudson and a few mates started a push-up challenge to get fit and motivate each other.
Pretty quickly, friends and friends of friends got involved. As it grew, it was clear the challenge was just as much about mental health, as it was physical health. The Push-up Challenge became a way for people to get together, raise funds and talk about mental health.
But one year later, Nick was devastated and forced out of action as he found out he needed open heart surgery.
With so many factors out of his control, he chose to focus on making The Push-Up Challenge a public annual event. Fast forward to 2023, The Push-Up Challenge has raised $40 million for mental health charities.
This year alone, over 200,000 participants completed 315 million push-ups.
On this episode of ‘How To’, Jamie Burnett chats with Nick Hudson, Founder of The Push-Up Challenge about how something between a few mates has grown to help so many.
LISTEN to Nick’s story about being forced to embrace vulnerability, learning about his father’s depression and the shame that so often plagues those who need help and gets in the way.
