‘I can’t believe what a waste it is’: Julie-anne Sprague reacts to Cook’s contentious school payments
The West Australian government has introduced the $103.5 million Student Assistance Payment program, offering up to $250 to households with school-aged children amidst the national cost-of-living crisis.
When questioned about whether such direct government payments could lead to higher interest rates, Premier Roger Cook said the targeted nature of the policy should lessen any inflationary pressure.
Julie-anne Sprague criticised the program on 6PR Afternoons, stating, “It’s an absolute waste of taxpayer money. Surely, cost-of-living measures need to be more targeted to those who are actually suffering and need relief.”
