A key issue plaguing the state is the current housing crisis where supply isn’t meeting demand.

Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) CEO Tanya Steinbeck told Oliver Peterson on Perth Life adding more social housing isn’t going to fix the crisis.

“There needs to be equal focus on other elements,” said Ms Steinbeck.

“We’re in for a rough ride.”

However,  Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA chief economist Aaron Morey commended the government’s handling of investments.

Mr Morey said the state’s business investments such as the iron ore industry and fighting for GST have led to such a large surplus.
