The medical costs to save Frank Lui, a 15-year-old leukaemia patient, have risen, leaving his humble family and supportive community searching for additional funds.

Having exhausted all medical options in Australia, Frank now needs to travel overseas for more advanced treatment.

Carine Senior High School principal Damian Shuttleworth, Frank’s principal, spoke with Perth Today host Simon Beaumont about his kind, resilient student and the urgent need for assistance.

“We’ve been told very clearly that if Frank isn’t given this opportunity to go over to Singapore for this life-saving treatment, he will actually die, he will pass away. That’s not a question,” he said.

Simon then had a heart-wrenching conversation with Frank’s father, Bright, about the immense challenges Frank has faced and the overwhelming support from the community.

“I can’t believe it, and I just want to say thank you to everyone, and I hope one day we can give something back,” Bright Lui said.
