Indonesia to target Aussie retirees and ‘digital nomads’ to boost economy
The Indonesian Government is targeting foreigners to relocate during the winter months to boost its domestic economy.
The campaign focuses on Australian retirees and so-called ‘digital nomads’ who can contribute to the tourism and workforce sectors.
Founder of the Indonesia Institute Ross Taylor told Liam Bartlett the new growth of electric vehicles in Indonesia had added a greater demand for foreign workers.
“Why wouldn’t someone like Indonesia say to those people… ‘If you’ve got the skill, why don’t you come up and live up here?” he said on 6PR Mornings.
“We’ll create an environment for you, and we can use you to achieve the objectives that we’ve got,
“We just discarded those people here in Australia, but Indonesia’s saying, ‘we would like to use your expertise,’ and I think it’s a very good idea.”
