Even more hopeful homeowners have been left empty-handed as another construction firm has declared bankruptcy.

Western Luxury Homes has gone into liquidation according to an ASIC notice, with dozens of homes still unfinished.

Building and Energy’s Director of Building Compliance Sandy Randall told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons the decision will actually come as a bit of a relief to those stuck in building purgatory.

“A lot of the insolvency events that we’ve seen over the last few months have been on the backs of builders,” Ms Randall said.

“So our view is if you can’t build these homes, get out out of the way people’s policies of home Indemnity insurance will then allow them to engage with a new builder and get their homes finished.”
