Following Anthony Albanese’s government-wide ban on TikTok, experts are asking why the notorious and hugely popular app isn’t being banned for everyone.

Tech expert Geoff Quatrromani told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast he was confused as to why the information the government is using to justify the ban isn’t being made public.

“I think it depends on who you are and what you’re comfortable giving away,” Mr Quatromani said.

TikTok has released a statement in response to the government decision, saying: “If confirmed, we are extremely disappointed by this decision which, in our view, is driven by politics, not fact.

“We are also disappointed that TikTok, and the millions of Australians who use it, were left to learn of this decision through the media, despite our repeated offers to engage with government constructively about this policy.”
