Short-stay rental companies may have a multitude of rules and guidelines preventing the surveilling of guests, but that doesn’t seem to be a universal case.

6PR listener Jo contacted Chrissy Morrissey on 6PR Afternoons to describe how a planned family holiday ended in tension after they discovered security cameras throughout the property… not long before the owner began to contact them.

“We felt a bit violated, so I suggested we cover them up; within five minutes we were receiving calls telling us to remove it,” Jo said.

Counter surveillance specialist Julian Claxton told Chrissy it’s an ongoing issue, yet the hope is most property owners are “not intent on covertly surveilling guests”.
