Police Commissioner Col Blanch has defended the work of WA Police in response to youth and drug crime, saying more needs to be done to deal with the systemic issues behind them.

The commissioner talked in-studio to Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings about a range of topics, including the controversy over the use of police dogs during arrests.

“Our police aren’t robots. When they’re out there at 3am and there’s offenders on the premises, I would expect they would make a decision for their safety or the safety of the homeowners or the residents,” Mr Blanch said.
