‘It was all sorts of wrong’: Tess Ingram on Gaza mission hijacked by gunfire
Despite facing gunfire during the aid convoy’s delivery in Gaza on Friday and escalating tensions in the region over the weekend, Tess Ingram’s UNICEF group proceeded with their mission yesterday to deliver lifesaving nutrition and medical supplies to a hospital.
UNICEF aid worker, and former journalist Tess Ingram told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons, “We were on a mission to bring medicine, nutrition supplies, fuel to the north of Gaza, and this was a coordinated mission, which means we let Israel know where we were going and what we were doing…It was while we were in a holding that gunfire broke out in the area, it appeared to be coming from the north…”
“We copped a couple of bullets in the car that I was in, one in my window, another in the door and one on the hood of the car.”
“We reattempted the mission yesterday, and we made it this time, which was fantastic,” Ms Ingram said.
