The collapse of trade talks with the EU might be bad news for many industries here in Australia, but there’s plenty who are relishing the breakdown.

Domestic wine and cheese makers, among others, have been fighting to retain the iconic names of their products such as prosecco and parmesan as Europe’s protected origin program continues to group products under the same umbrella as champagne.

Brown Brothers winemaker Katherine Brown told Millsy and Karl onĀ 6PR Breakfast it’s important to them to protect their own history.

“We’re not up for that; we want to keep these names we’ve been using for decades,” Ms Brown said.
