Port Hedland’s outspoken councilor has doubled down on his support of Vladimir Putin, arguing any criticism of Russia has been manufactured by the “corrupt” Western media.

Adrian McRae has made international headlines with his congratulations of Putin following his recent successful election, claiming the process was the most “transparent democratic process” in the world.

Mr McRae told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings he was taken aback by the outcry against his recent statements, and said he didn’t realise so many Australians were wary of Russia and Putin.
