‘It’s not based on evidence’: Tattoo industry slams EU pigment ban
The Australian tattoo industry has reassured that popular pigments in tattoo ink pose no risk to people’s safety.
It comes as the European Union banned blue and green pigments after conducting an assessment into the health risks.
However, Tashi Edwards, Vice President of The Australian Tattooists Guild, said banning the blue pigment would be disastrous for the industry.
“Banning blue wipes out the entire colour field,” she said on 6PR Breakfast.
“What we’re seeing really is government over-reach, to be frank.
“There’s no toxicological studies, it’s not based on evidence, it’s hazard reduction.”
