It seems the heatwave sapping the state isn’t just getting under the skin of us mere homo sapiens.

A cow aptly named Gorgeous George was spotted taking a swim at Naval Base Horse (and cow) Beach in Kwinana to escape the heat with his owner Ashlee.

She told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast her pet cow loved keeping cool on hot days during summer by going for a swim.

“George is a Jersey cow, I’ve had him since he was a day old … he’ll be four in February,” Ashlee said.

“He loves a good swim in the summer … he’s been going ever since he was about one.

“One of his best friends is my horse, so they go down together in the float and yeah, have a paddle.”
