Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe has shared an emotional explanation of how public threats against her life have affected her, and has not backed down on holding Anthony Albanese at least partly responsible.

Ms Thorpe was targeted by neo-Nazis in a video showing them immolating an Aboriginal flag and threatening her with harm.

“[Anthony Albanese] is the leader of this country. Does he have the power to ensure that senators and politicians are protected?” Ms Thorpe queried.

“I should be able to do my job effectively.”
