Choice has found that 7 out of 10 top-selling Australian car brands have sold private data to third parties, with Tesla, Kia, and Hyundai among the worst.

Jarni Blakkarly from Choice explained to 6PR Afternoons host Julie-anne Sprague how the Privacy Act is out of date and needs reform.

“There are options for consumers to opt out of this data sharing, but drivers are automatically opted in when they purchase the vehicle,” he said.
