Retiring New Zealand MP took time during his final speech to push for an Australia-New Zealand union, saying there would be much to gain.
Considering there’s around half a million Kiwis already living in Australia, the idea may not actually be too far-fetched.

Professor at both Auckland and Charles Sturt University Dominic O’Sullivan told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings there would be a few very clear obstacles to overcome.
“New Zealand’s had guaranteed Maori representation since 1867; I don’t think there would be any enthusiasm from Maori people to lose that, and given we’re struggling so much with the Voice concept it would expose some differences,” Professor O’Sullivan said.
