UPDATE: A 41-year-old man has been charged with five counts of arson following their investigation into the recent bushfires in Nedlands, Kings Park and West Perth.

Police allege the man used a mobile heat source to set fire to long grass on the verge adjacent to a nursing home on Williams Road in Nedlands on October 24.

It’s also alleged he used the same heat source to start three fires in Kings Park on the same day, as well as yesterday’s Jacobs Ladder fire.

He was arrested at around 5.50pm near Jacobs Ladder yesterday.

Press PLAY to hear more about developments in the Kings Park fires investigations

Apartments near Jacob’s Ladder were within metres of being engulfed in flames yesterday as a section of Kings Park burned.

Now, it is understood a man has been taken into custody in relation to not only yesterday’s fire, but the multiple spot fires which swept through the iconic park last week.

6PR reporter Jake Battrick told Millsy and Karl onĀ 6PR Breakfast there has been little information so far on connections between the fires.

“Whatever this man’s involvement is in all or some of these fires we’re still waiting on confirmation,” Mr Battrick said.
