Kings Park flame of remembrance mystery solved after teen comes forward
WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has vowed officers will watch notorious child sex offender Bradley Pen Dragon like a hawk when is released from prison on strict supervision orders this month.
Dawson also told Gareth Parker in his regular Wednesday segment on 6PR Breakfast that the mystery of how the flame of remembrance (or Eternal Flame) at Kings Park was extinguished at the weekend had been solved.
“The flame was extinguished… the fellow involved – an 18-year-old who handed himself into police – he came forward, it was actually his birthday, he said he had no intention of falling into the pool, he was skylarking, that’s what he’s put to us,” the Commissioner said.
“We’ve got no evidence to the contrary that he intentionally extinguished the flame, he shouldn’t have been doing what he did, so we did charge him and he’s been issued a fine for disorderly behaviour.”
Commissioner Dawson also touched on:
- how police will monitor notorious child sex offender Bradley Pen Dragon when he’s released from prison later this month
- investigating claims a school student in Kalgoorlie-Boulder posted a chilling video loading a gun and threatening students
