LA fires on the doorstep of Hollywood
Unprecedented wildfires are wreaking havoc across LA, obliterating homes and claiming lives.
6PR’s Chrissy Morrissy spoke to US correspondent Johnathan Kearsley.
“This continues to be an unfolding emergency that is now, would you believe it, spreading to the heart of the Hollywood Hills,” he said.
Jane Pankhurst from WA had just landed in LA, oblivious to the devastation she was heading towards.
“What is usually just the most beautiful view of mountains to your north and to your west was just completely covered by smoke,” she said.
Jarrod Greenwood, a Perth resident, is in the thick of the action, witnessing the flames from his hotel room.
“In the last sort of 15, 20 minutes, we’ve seen about ten to twelve aircraft deployed in that area with aerial assaults, and it’s just siren after siren as fire trucks race up that hill to try and put that fire out, which is really on the doorstep of Hollywood,” he said.
