Latest COVID-19 figures: streak of zero cases over
Western Australia’s eight day streak of zero new coronavirus cases has ended.
A 29-year-old woman who recently returned from overseas has tested positive and will remain in hotel isolation.
But Premier Mark McGowan says three new recoveries were recorded overnight taking the total recoveries to 534 leaving just nine active cases in the state.
Mr McGowan will meet with National Cabinet today to finalise a road-map to easing restrictions. Following this, the Prime Minister will provide a summary of the outcome of the meeting. Along with the Police Commissioner and Chief Health Officer, Mr McGowan will then plan how to implement this at a State Disaster Council meeting.
WA’s road-map will be announced by the Premier on Sunday.
“Each state and territory will be different,” said Mr McGowan.
“Here in Western Australia we will do the best for our people and our state.”
