Lead ‘probably’ in ring main outside PCH
John Holland has been clear of bungling the Perth Children’s Hospital according to the Building Commission’s final audit, however lead at the hospital is still an issue.
The report is critical of testing procedures, saying that while the lead has probably come from the QE2 medical centre’s ring main, and from brass fittings in the hospital, there’s no way to establish when and how much each possible source contributed to the contamination.
Building Commissioner Peter Gow says he’s satisfied there was now no asbestos risk to the future users of the PCH and that fire safety requirements had been met.
He spoke with Oliver Peterson.
