Libby Mettam slams State Government for hospital advice failures
WA’s Shadow Health Minister, Libby Mettam, has slammed the State Government over its claims a dedicated resuscitation team had been established at Perth Children’s Hospital when that wasn’t the case.
Installing a separate team was one of five recommendations from a coronial inquest into Aishwarya Aswath’s death.
The Health Minister last week maintained the emergency department at PCH had sufficient measures in place but she’s since revealed there were rostering issues that are being rectified.
Libby Mettam told Gary Adshead these failings shouldn’t have taken nearly two years to fix.

“We are beyond the calling of urgency – we know issues around dangerous levels of understaffing were raised well before the tragedy surrounding Aishwarya Aswath,” Ms Mettam said.
