Like a sinking ship: leaks keep threatening government’s hospital plans

The premier doubling down today that the fastest route to having a new women and babies hospital is by building it near Fiona Stanley Hospital – and not at the QE II site in Nedlands.

That’s despite a third leaked document within a week , flagging more concerns from the state’s medical work force.

Australian Medical Association WA President Michael Page told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings there is a series of complex issues necessary to the hospital’s development, which is apparently being left at the wayside.

“The reason for that is that babies born with life threatening medical conditions requiring urgent surgical care, can’t be cared for in the women’s and newborns hospital where they’re born,” Dr Page said.
