Soul and blues powerhouse Mahalia Barnes has opened up about her new leading role in her first ever stage show Jesus Christ Superstar.

The singer, songwriter and now stage performer spoke to 6PR Afternoons host Julie-Anne Sprague about her role as Mary in the production which lands in Perth in February next year.

“Usually when I come over to Perth I’m in and out… I always love the weather over there… I’m thrilled I get to come and spend a little more of an extended period in the city (Perth),” Barnes said.
