With a population under 100, Ongerup doesn’t take up too much space on the map, but that hasn’t limited the locals’ love for the town.

The residents have bought the pub, supermarket, café and petrol station in a joint effort to make sure the town stays open and available for tourists.

Ongerup Cricket Club captain Rick Carpenter told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the passion to keep the town ticking is an ongoing vibe.

“So the cafe and supermarket were bought about 10 or 12 years ago by another group of farmers, and this next generation that I’m part of – a few of us sat down and realised we should do something about this,” Mr Carpenter said.
