Canada has banned TikTok from all government-issued mobile devices due to security concerns.

It follows similar actions in the US, where more than half of states and Congress have banned TikTok from government devices, and the European Union, which has temporarily banned TikTok from phones.

Senior Analyst with ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre, Fergus Ryan, told Gary Adshead parts of the Australian government have already banned TikTok on work devices.

“I am not surprised – it’s been a long time coming and that’s because it’s been clear for many years that TikTok user data – is accessible in Beijing,” Mr Ryan said on 6PR Mornings.
