“There were numerous red flags as to why I shouldn’t be playing (against Brisbane).”
“There were plenty of times I’ve gone into games feeling sore and they’re the weeks where I’ve pinged a hammy.”
West Coast has come under fire following an unprecedented run of injuries this year but Shuey didn’t fold to the temptation of risking an injury by leading his young side.
“I’ve never missed a game without feeling injured and it didn’t sit comfortably with me resting, but I feel like it was probably the right move and gives me the chance to get through the rest of the year without having to do that again.”
