AFL Chairman Richard Goyder has gotten himself in hot water with outspoken commentator Caroline Wilson, who took exception to comments he allegedly made over the replacement of Gillon McLachlan.

Caro referred to Mr Goyder’s “joke” that South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas could replace McLachlan as AFL CEO as “insulting”, before Craig Hutchison pointed out the humour in the comment.

Nine News sports reporter Mark Readings told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast that he felt the joke was lighthearted and comments on the ongoing CEO changeover issue were warranted.

“I know we live in a new age and we’ve got to be careful with what we say, but fair dinkum, that’s good humour from the big fella,” Millsy said.
