Man charged with murder after allegedly cutting friend’s leg off in bizarre ‘arrangement’

A 36-year-old Queensland man allegedly used a circular saw to cut off a 66-year-old man’s leg an hour south of Cairns.

According to police, the 36-year-old cut the man’s leg off in an ‘arrangement’ with a friend.

Kate Kyriacou, a crime reporter for The Courier Mail, told 6PR Mornings host Liam Bartlett that it was a ‘very strange and sad case’.

“To be honest, I’ve been a journalist for 20 years and (this story) blew my mind,” she explained.

“You can really only speculate why you would allow someone to cut off the lower half of your leg with a circular saw outside of any sort of medical assistance and then walk you back to your car, fit you in there and walk away.”
